Rwanda, Karongi district: Warthog(informally wild pork) severely injured a man who was cutting cow grasses near Nyungwe National Park.
The terrible scene of warthog attack took place on September 28 , 2025 ,Vincent Musabyimana 54 years-old a resident near the Nyungwe National Park in Karongi district, Twumba sector, Gisovu cell, he was severely injured by a warthog(informally wild pork), he is now sick at Mugonero hospital, the sources says that he was cutting cow grasses near Nyungwe National Park borders, and he came to look around and find a big animal lying down, the idea came to him, and so he wondered whether the lying big animal is alive or dead, to want to know the reality of the lying big animal, Vincent decided to approach the animal and he beat it with his stick and check, as he was approaching the animal, he learned it to be a warthog (informally wild pork)it did get up and started to attack him, and stampling him, he said that the warthog had injured and damaged his face , and on leg, so he lost consciousness, and it left, and after a time he wake up,so he went back home and tell one of Isibo leaders( Rwandan primary local leader) the misfortune he has met of attacked by warthog.
Vincent Musabyimana a father of ten (10) children , he said he was alone at home for others had gone at church, so he find the hungry cow. That’s how he went at Nyungwe National Park to find the cow grasses .
The laws of Rwanda prohibit everyone who intrudes the limits of the National Parks or other reserved zone.
The Mayor of Karongi district, Gerard Muzungu ,too had confirmed the case to have taken place.
“Normally these warthogs never cross the Park’s limits, instead these people are the ones to go to intrude the Park’s limits and chasing these animals, so if the victim says the warthog attacked him at reserved zone, although they are not allowed to intrude there too, we are going to follow and know its realty, if we shall find he was innocently attacked by the warthog,he will be recompensed , however if it will be known that it is he who intruded the warthog’s zone, after he will be cured , the laws will then follow him.” Mayor Gerard Muzungu said.
And too he said that the residents near Nyungwe National Park must learn to live with it, and protect it for themselves know the role it plays for them ,and in entire country.
