Breaking news: Uganda and Somalia military forces in Somalia peace mission have reconquered a part from Al-Shabaab after heavy fight.
Awdheegle is a part in South of Somalia, it has been in the arms of the terrorism group Al- Shabaab, but this Sunday 05 October 2025 , the working together of Uganda and Somalia military forces, the part was liberated .
The fighting was heavy and fatal , and ended by the victory of Uganda and Somalia military forces,some Al-Shabaab terrorists were caught during the fightings.
This area, which was captured by Ugandan forces in collaboration with Somali forces, follows other areas previously seized by these troops, including Bariire, Sabiid, and Anole, which had been under the control of the Al-Shabaab group.
The commander of the Ugandan troops serving in the peacekeeping mission in Somalia, Lt Gen Sam Kavuma, praised the forces for their remarkable achievements.
He said, “I commend the dedication and bravery demonstrated by the Ugandan and Somali forces in weakening the terrorist group Al-Shabaab, as they managed to capture an area that had been under the rebels’ control and restore peace there.”
