BREAKING NEWS, Rwanda and Burundi, the Rwandan soldier, Sergeant Emmanuel Sadiki who has been arrested in Burundi is already brought back in Rwanda.
- Sergeant Emmanuel Sadiki usually works too as driver in RDF, on 24 September 2025 ,he lost his way, and cross the Gasenyi-Nemba border,and found himself on the lands of Burundi. The Burundi’s police forces arrested him. However the RDF, came to confirm the incident in their announcement they released.
The early announcement of RDF, confirming that their solider was caught intruding Burundi’s lands unintentionally after losing his way.
In that announcement of RDF that followed the speculation, they confirmed that their solider named Sergeant Emmanuel Sadiki, unintentionally intruded Burundi’s lands by crossing the border , caught and arrested by the Burundi police forces. In that announcement they said that they are going to use diplomatic procedures so that their soldier will be brought back.
Getting the sources from journal , Umunota, the soldier , Sergeant Emmanuel Sadiki has been already brought back in Rwanda after to near twelve (12) days.
The spokesperson of RDF, General Brigadier Ronald Rwivanga has said:” He has come, they brought him back.” Telling that newspaper.
What does it mean for the diplomacy of Rwanda and Burundi?
The two landlocked neighboring countries had been running a very cold diplomacy in to a decade . However things fell apart awhile after the current president of Burundi took the presidential office in June 2020.
The things came to be bad as on
the 11 January 2024 Burundi side decided to close all borders with Rwanda.
The countries accuse each other to want to destroy other by supporting the opposition of other government.
Burundi accuses Rwanda to support the people who wanted to make a failed coup d’etat RED-Tabara group , the group that want to overthrow Burundian government. And too Rwanda accuse Burundi to have provided refuge to the FDLR , a group that is made of people who committed the Genocide against Tutsi in 1994. And , too recently, the President of Burundi has announced that Rwanda has the long intention to attack Burundi, but there were not evidence jw provided.
In recent months, the Rwanda’s foreign minister, Amb. Jean Patrick Olivier Nduhungirehe announced that there were the on going discussion to study how the two countries could revive their diplomacy, but said that, the process was cut by the president of Burundi.
Today, people can wonder , if the countries managed to use the diplomacy to solve the problem of Sergeant Emmanuel Sadiki, people can wonder , why not they can’t start to revive the sleeping diplomacy?
We cannot confirm that soon it is going to happen but , what is really true is that, the closure of borders of Rwanda and Burundi had impacted the development of the two countries, especially the population of these countries. Economically, people lost the chances and opportunities to do cross border businesses,and emotionally, the families lost their people as Rwanda and Burundi normally are the countries that share brotherhood.
