Nyanza district: RIB (Rwanda Investigation Bureau) has arrested a primary teacher who beat and injured a citizen with others.
A teacher who teaches at GS (Group Scolaire) Mubuga , in Nyanza district, Rwabicuma sector is arrested after suspected to have involved in beating a local citizen with others.
The suspect identified as Vital, his work mates(teachers at GS Mubuga) , told Umuseke we got source from,that in the month of June 2025, teacher Vital went in a local alcohol bar,he, the bar owner, and the bar owner’s father assaulted a person suspected of stealing in the bar, causing him serious injuries. The victim went to the hospital and filed a complaint with the RIB (Rwanda Investigation Bureau).
During the investigation, the RIB arrested the bar owner’s father, while the woman running the bar was questioned but not detained.
The RIB summoned the teacher, but he did not appear. Reports indicate that the prosecution later released the bar owner’s father, allowing him to continue being investigated without being detained.
In October 2025, the RIB received information that the teacher had returned to that area. He was arrested and is currently held at the RIB station in Busasamana, Nyanza District.
The principal of Groupe Scolaire Mubuga, Twisungimana Aimable, told Umuseke we got source from,that he learned about the teacher’s arrest. He inquired with locals, who told him that the incident had occurred in August 2025, and that those who had assaulted the teacher were arrested and later released, claiming that the teacher had been present.
He said, “I couldn’t go to the RIB to ask, but I will go there today.”
At various times, the family of the person suspected of being assaulted said that their relative had been beaten and injured, but those responsible had not been prosecuted.
