Israel Mbonyi’s Rubavu concert postponed as plans shift to nationwide tour
The concert gospel artist Israel Mbonyi was scheduled to hold in Rubavu District on January 1, 2026 has been postponed just three days before its planned date.
The decision was made after Mbonyi and his team agreed that the event needed better preparation and should be expanded into a nationwide concert tour.
Speaking to newspaper IGIHE, one of the organizers explained that the decision followed extensive consultations with various partners, who advised that the concert be redesigned to reach a wider audience across the country.
“We initially planned to hold a concert in Rubavu, but our partners repeatedly suggested that we turn it into a nationwide tour,” the organizer said. “Our goal is now to perform in all five provinces of the country. This requires more thorough preparation, which is why we decided to reschedule.”
In an official statement released by the organizers, fans who had already purchased tickets were informed that they would be contacted and given the option to receive a refund or keep their tickets for use at the rescheduled concerts.
The postponed Rubavu concert was expected to follow Israel Mbonyi’s historic performance at BK Arena on December 25, 2025, where he set a remarkable milestone in his music career. The upcoming nationwide tour is anticipated to build on that success and bring his music closer to fans across Rwanda.
