EDUCATION: Muhanga,ICK university is going to write history in education of Rwanda
ICK (Institut Catholic de Kabgayi) university is one of highly recognized educational institutions in Rwanda.
History and background of Institut Catholic de Kabgayi (ICK)
The Catholic Institute of Kabgayi was founded in 2002 by the Catholic Diocese of Kabgayi under the name Université Catholique de Kabgayi (UCK). It started with 311 students. It was given recognition by the Ministry of Education by Convention of Allocation N° 001/03/2003 concluded between the Government of Rwanda via the Ministry of Education and the Catholic Diocese of Kabgayi.
What started as Université Catholique de Kabgayi became Institut Catholique de Kabgayi by the Ministerial Order N° 03/08.11 of 04/02/2010 promulgated in Official Gazette of the Republic of Rwanda N° 08 of 22/02/2010. The Institute obtained accreditation or Definitive Operating Licence by the decision of the Cabinet on March 24th, 2010.
Location of ICK
ICK university has the main office and campus in the city of Muhanga, in southern province, it has good and higher level on standard buildings, people who can be moving in the Muhanga parking area can see the one of ICK tower building of four floors.
Faculties at ICK university
ICK university is one of universities in Rwanda that gives diversity in education through different faculties of studies, there is , faculty of journalism and communication studies, faculty of education, faculty of social, economic sciences and business management, faculty of science of development, faculty of health sciences
The ICK university gives degrees to Masters level.
Today , 2025 December 23 , the ICK university will celebrate the 15th graduation, the event that will place in Muhanga district at Muhanga Regional stadium.
Who will participate in this ICK 15th graduation ceremony?
The graduands from different faculties are the main event owners , more than 1000 students are expected to be crowned the bachelor’s degree and Diploma, the friends of graduands, non-graduating ICK students ,and friends of ICK university are also all invited to join and testimony the event.
