KIGALI: Well known thief was shot dead by Rwanda security agencies after trying to escape
Security organs, while on duty maintaining security, received information from residents that in Nyange Village, Ngiryi Cell, Jabana Sector, Gasabo District, there was a driver who had his bag stolen, containing money.
Security organs pursued the suspected thieves to a house where they were hiding. One of the suspects, identified as Faustin Twizeyimana, commonly known as Cyaruhogo, came out wielding a machete and attacked one of the security officers, injuring him on both arms.
The officer’s colleague immediately shot the suspect, killing him on the spot.
Further operations were conducted to track down other accomplices, leading to the arrest of four additional suspects. A search of the house where the deceased suspect had been living resulted in the seizure of 190 packages of marijuana.
The Spokesperson of the Rwanda National Police in the City of Kigali, CIP Wellars Gahonzire, stated that investigations are ongoing to ensure that all suspects involved are arrested and that the stolen money is recovered.
One resident said that after the suspect was killed, some neighbors expressed relief, claiming that he was a notorious criminal in the area.
