Rwanda: All schools in Kigali will have to close during the UCI 2025 Road World Championship
As the country is reaching the final preparations to host the world class event, the UCI 2025 Road World Championship that will take place in Kigali city, the state has organized the way it will be easy for the racers and visitors. It is I that way the Rwanda Ministry of Education and the City of Kigali have announced the temporary closure of schools , governmental and private that operate in Kigali city, during the time of Championship from September 21 to September 28.
To mitigate the impact on academic progress, the Ministry has assured that lost school days will be compensated through adjustments to the academic calendar.
The schools and other educational institutions are advised to prepare online contents, homeworks , and whenever it will be possible the education staff might plan the way to communicate with they students during the time of closure.
The event is expected to attract numerous participants from across the globe, along with visitors who will come for both the event and tourism activities. It is being said that more than
15 000 will come to see the event , and more than 300 million world wide audience . This edition will be 98th , as the most recent edition of the championship took place in Zürich, Switzerland, in 2024.
