Rwanda: Two brothers arrested for killing the thief who attacked their house with traditional weapons.
As news journal umuseke.rw says, the incident took place in Ruhango district, in Southern province during the late night of September 12 2025, where two traditional armed men tried to go to stealing the goats, they had machettes, spears and daggers, they wanted to enter the destination house by digging the house.
The two men , one of 57 year-old and an other of 73 year-old, it is announced that they attempted the theft at the house of Providence Uwineza, 49 year-old, in Ruhango district, Ruhango sector , Tambwe cell , in Ruduha village. As the two thieves were digging the house to steal the goats, two young men in the house , heard things making noise and woke up, by seeing it is thieves trying to steal their house, they started to fight with them.
During that fatal fighting, one of the house son , 17 year old was hurt on the arm, and his elder brother , 24 year old got angry and beat one of the thieves a cane in forehead, and he knocked down. Upon seeing that the thief knocks down, the two brothers tried to take the thief at nearest health center, where the thief was declared dead from that forehead cane
The CIP Hassan Kamanzi , the police spokesperson in Southern province of Rwanda, confirmed the incident, and said that with the help of neighbouring citizens and RIB (Rwanda Investigation Bureau), the two killers brothers were caught.
Recently, people was debating about the case like that, what happens to someone who kills the attackers, one of RIB (Rwanda Investigation Bureau)officials said that , when that case happens , they check whether to attacked one used the same forces as the attacker had, that when it can be called self-defense, however when attacked one uses beyond the forces of attacker, the case is not treated as self-defense.
