SAD NEWS, NYAMASHEKE:

Truck accident leaves two injured as another deadly crash claims five lives in Kigali

An accident involving a cement-laden truck occurred in Ruharambuga Sector of Nyamasheke District, where the vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a ravine. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident.

The accident took place at a location known as Shangazi, situated in Ruharambuga Sector, Nyamasheke District.

The truck, which was transporting cement, lost control, left the road, and fell into a ravine. Although the crash did not claim any lives, the driver and another person who was in the truck sustained injuries. They were immediately rushed to a nearby health center for medical treatment.

This accident comes shortly after another serious road crash that occurred the previous night, on Monday, December 22, 2025, in Kicukiro District in the City of Kigali.

In that incident, a fuel tanker truck reportedly suffered brake failure and rammed into several other vehicles.

According to reports, the tanker was descending from Nyanza of Kicukiro heading towards the Sonatubes area.

When it is suspected to have lost its brakes. The truck went on to collide with multiple vehicles along the way, including motorcycles and cars.

Information released by the Rwanda National Police indicates that the Kicukiro accident resulted in the deaths of five people, while nine others were injured. The crash also caused damage to various pieces of infrastructure.

The Rwanda National Police has once again urged vehicle owners and drivers to regularly inspect and maintain their vehicles to ensure roadworthiness. Police note that many such accidents are often caused by mechanical failures, particularly faulty brakes, which are linked to poor vehicle maintenance and failure to conduct regular technical inspections.
